In 2021, the granting of Golden Visas, or Residence Permits for Investment, totaled around 460 million euros, 28% less than the 646.7 million euros invested in 2020.
According to Lusa's accounts, based on SEF numbers, 865 visas were granted, 317 less than the previous year.
In December alone, 84 ARIs were granted, 14 to Chinese citizens, 13 to North Americans, 11 to Brazilians, 10 to Russians and 4 to UK citizens, in a total investment of 42.1 million euros.
71 of these visas were granted via the purchase of real estate, in a total investment of 35.6 million euros, 52% more than in December 2020.
Between October 2012 and December 2021, 10,254 residence permits for investment were granted, with China representing almost half of these visas granted, in a total investment of 6,099 million euros.
9,585 million euros were invested through the acquisition of real estate, in a total investment of 5,507 million euros.
