Initially, the group expects to open 5 units in the city, for which it has already obtained the corresponding construction licenses. One of the student residences will be built in Les Corts and it will offer 300 rooms. The other four will provide around 350 rooms each and will be located at the city’s tech district: @22. The first unit is expected to open in 2022.
The Catalan capital was not chosen by accident. When it came to deciding, Vita Student had other options on the table such as Paris, Rome or Munich, but it was in Barcelona that the company found «schools and universities with international prestige and the city’s character and quality of living», explained Ken Knott, director of strategic partnerships at Vita Student to newspaper La Vanguardia.
The group started operating in 2013 and it already has 20 student residences in the United Kingdom, which offer a total of 6.000 rooms. It also has 3.500 rooms more on the pipeline.
