This purchase follows the acquisition last year of 80.000 sqm in Fuenlabrada (Madrid) and the recent acquisition in Valencia, of two 60.000 sqm parcels.
The terrain was acquired in PLAZA, 10 kilometres Southeast of the Zaragoza’s city centre, in an intermodal transport hub with easy access by road (main motorways AP-2, AP-68 and A-23), cargo train and plane.
Jan van Geet, VGP’s CEO, stated that «we are excited with the new opportunities in the Spanish market, as we see that the investments are creating a lot of interest in all our parks all over the country. PLAZA in Zaragoza benefits from excellent access by motorway connecting the park to the largest cities in Spain, allowing them to efficiently serve the Spanish market, besides having great access to both railway and national and international air transport».
The Zaragoza operation was advised by CBRE and with this last parcel it finishes the 120.000 sqm acquisition, being the largest area acquired in the last few years in the Plataforma, Aragon’s logistic reference; and the largest by an international fund in the city of Zaragoza.
Alberto Larrazabal, director at CBRE Industrial y Logística states that «Zaragoza’s potential as a logistic centre is ever more clear, positioning itself as one of the most obvious alternatives to the traditional locations, such as Madrid and Barcelona, thanks to its excellent geographical location and to other factors such as the goods entrance through its airport which is one of the most important in terms of volume».
