The price of housing in Barcelona is growing at an average annual rate of 7% since 2015

This number is slightly higher than the 5% registered in the region as a whole in the last three years, according to a report prepared by CBRE, which shows that the price level has recovered in the capital up to 28% regarding the minimum in 2014.

For its part, the price of rents in the city of Barcelona and towns in the metropolitan area have also increased. Specially for the municipality of Barcelona, the average rent in the period 2015-2017 has grown by 14% on annual average, and next to the capital, the nearby towns such as Hospitalet de Llobregat, Castelldefels or San Cugat del Vallès have also increased to average rates above 10%, which reflects that "before the high prices of the capital, much of the demand for rental housing has been displaced to the periphery" points Anna Esteban.
