The ministry headed by Margarita Robles, one of the most active when it comes to alienating public terrains, has started the procedures to auction a plot of land in Madrid for 12.5 million euro, according to El Confidencial.
The auction will take place together with a further 18 assets, for which the Ministry of Defence expects to receive around 40 million euro. The plot of land is within the terrains of the so-called Operación Campamento, a space formerly occupied by the Army and which will now be destined to the construction of affordable housing.
The plot of land is located in solar Arroyo Meaques (Madrid) and has 49.732 sqm for residential use. It is also located near the M-502 motorway from Carabanchel to Aravaca, next to the limits of the Pozuelo de Alarcón municipality.
According to the Instituto de Vivienda, Infraestructura y Equipamiento de Defensa (Defence’s Institute for Housing, Infrastructure and equipment), the terrains have a 26.100 sqm buildable areas and the buildings can be no higher than six floors, which means 260 dwellings could be built in them.
