The residence will have an area of more than 19,000 m2 and will offer local and foreign students more than five hundred accommodation places. In addition, there will be a restaurant, gym, coworking spaces, study room, terraces, bicycle parking and an wide program of cultural and leisure activities.
The residence will have an approximate cost of some €22 million, amount that will be entirely paid by the group Nexo Residencias and GSA España. The University of Barcelona will transfer the exploitation of the residence to this company for 50 years, establishing periods of extension of the concession of five years, up to a maximum of 25. In exchange, the University of Barcelona will receive, as a royalty, an amount of approximately nine million euros and 1.1% of annual gross income from the moment of the start of exploitation, which is expected in September 2019.
