To be an associate member of RICS (AssocRICS), in the Building Surveying section, for associate technical architects it is sufficient for them to have one year of relevant professional experience after associateship, pass an evaluation carried out by CGTAE and RICS simultaneously, and be evaluated in terms of ethics. The object of this agreement is to augment the number of specialitsts as quickly as possible.
This path of entry to RICS does not limit the possibility for Spanish technical architects with more experience from access to other routes established by RICS, particularly Senior Professional, Senior Expert and the way of Professional Experience.
For its part, and in respect of RICS members who have academic qualifications comparable to those of technical architects, CGATE agrees to evaluate these, and, hopefully pass this information on in a favourable light to the competent Spanish authority (Ministry of Development), requesting recognition of these qualifications in Spain.
With this agreement “we are improving the international employment of Spanish surveyors and technical architects and contributing to the prestige of our profession”, stressed the president of CGATE, José Antonio Otero. Maaten Vermulen stated, at the signing of the agreement, that “From today, CGATE forms part of the history of RICS”. Relevant personalities from the construction industry were welcomed, like the President of the National Confederation of Construction, Juan Lazcano Acedo, the presidents of MUSAAT and PREMAAT, Francisco García de la Iglesia and Jesús Manuel González Juez, among others. .
The agreement representing collaboration also opens up the possibility of future collaborations, such as the recognition by RICS of training programmes, or systems of professional certification promoted by the Colleges for Surveyors and Technical Architects.
