Salamanca, one of the Spanish university par excellence, is going through a student residences’ boom with five new projects, of which one is already finished and the remaining ones are under construction.
The first residence to be finished is located in the Platinum section and has already opened next year’s submissions period. This is also the first building to be constructed within the city’s expansion area, which will be managed by Nexo and will have a total of 260 beds.
The colegio mayor de Cordel de Merinas, constituted by two buildings and featuring 399 rooms is practically finished with only some details needed to be concluded, will open its doors at the start of the next school year as well, as informed by La Tribuna de Salamanca.
One other project, also under construction will be another student residence located at the corner of avenida Santiago Madrazo with avenida Filiberto Villalobos, at the start of Pizarrales, where the Bréton Theatre was located years ago.
Lastly, there is one other project which still on the pipeline, since originally it was a housing project, so that its original use will need to be changed and it will be located in calle Henry Collet, in front of the football ground. Total investment is expected to reach 15 million euro and the construction works are expected to concluded this year.
All these new projects will represent more than 1.200 new student accommodation placements, although we still need to wait so as to know the impact they will have on the city.
