In Lisbon, the consultant highlighted the «resurgence» of Avenida da Liberdade, where shops such as JNcQUOI Asia, Lúcia Piloto, Boggi and Levis opened this year. This was also the area where rents increased the most, from 90 euro/sqm/month at the beginning of 2019 to 110 euro by the end of the year.
But it was in Chiado that the highest rents in the country were to be found at 145 euro/sqm/month, followed closely by the Baixa area at 140 euro/sqm/month – this being an area where the pace of demand is high, but where there are still many buildings in need of rehabilitation and shops in need of positionings. The consultant thus forecasts a greater dynamics in terms of openings for 2020 in this area of the city.
Regardless, shopping centres remain under the retailers’ radar, in particular those which have been refurbished, a growing trend within the market.
