This was a sale&leaseback operation which made it possible for Toys’R’Us to remain in these buildings as a tenant, sharing the spaces with the new owners, revealed news agency Europa Press quoted by newspaper Expansión. The stores are located at Alcobendas (Madrid), Sant Boi (Barcelona), Granada, Valencia, Malaga and Pamplona.
On its Twitter account, Cushman & Wakefield informed that «we are very proud for having advised this operation. At Cushman & Wakefield Spain we will keep assisting investors and tenants adapting to the new retail with our creativity and experience», added.
For Sports Direct, this acquisition is part of its plan to restart its commercial bet on Spain, where it already has 3 stores: one in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), another in Zaragoza and a third in Castellón. The British sportswear brand is present in several European countries, where it already has more than 700 stores.
Toys’R’Us should follow the model it has been implementing to improve the customers’ experience. This brand is currently present in 59 stores spread across Portugal and Spain.
