There are about 30 socimis listed on the MAB Alternative Stock Exchange, which together have a market capitalisation of over 4,045 million euros.
Their influence in the financial market derives from the fact that, with the exception of the sicavs, their capitalisation is more than 50% of all the MAB listed firms, Merlin, Hispania, Axiare and Lar. Their appearance on the real estate market has followed a process similar to the four big socimis listed on the Spanish stock exchange, explains Spanish Real Estate.
GMP Property at present has the largest capitalisation, with 820 million euros . Apart from this company, the remaining socimis of MAB just have 200 million euros . The same source explains that these phenomenon is due to, in part, what is an incipient phenomenon, but is also related to the tax treatment of these companies. The societies have a favourable tax regime, but are obliged to divide up 80% of the benefits, and declare at a rate of 23%. This year it is hoped that the number of these listed companies will double in number.
