Presided by Ismael Clemente, CEO of Merlin Properties, and under the motto «Shopping Centres 4.0», it hosts around one throusand professionals from all fields within this industry. Besides the ex-minister, economist and entrepreneur, Josep Piqué who will be opening the Meeting with an analysis of the Spanish economic situation within the European economy, there will be an intervention by the expert in digital transformation, culture and leadership Silvia Leal and from the expert in neuromarketing and digital marketing José Delgado who, along with some of the most prominent professionals within the sector, will draw the landscape of the future of shopping centres and show some of the main transformational initiatives which make this one of the most active and successful commercial sectors in Spain.
Sales increased around 2,6% and visits increased around 3,2%
The first semester of 2018 was very positive for the shopping centres and business parks industry in Spain. Sales increased 2,6% versus the same period last year and if the predictions are met, by the end of the year it will overtake the 44.589 millon in sales from 2017, which would make it a new record in the sector. By activities, catering is the one that grew the most with around 5,5% followed by household with around 2,5% and clothes with around 2,4%. Visits also increased this semester with a cumulative growth from January until June of 3,2% versus the same period in 2017.
The sector keeps grabing the interest of national and international investors, with 17 investment operations taking place in which 27 shopping centres and business parks were the object of transactions in a total amount of approximately 2.200 millon euro. This implies that the total amount from 2016 has already been surpassed and that we are close to the total amount achieved last year, 2.700 millon, the highest in the sector’s history in Spain.
