On the one hand, it has let the entire space to one of the giants of e-commerce, of which the first phase has been recently completed, taking up a total of 17,300 m². The second phase of the project, a further 16,800 m², is currently in development and will be completed in six months’ time. The completed project is expected to be 34.100 m² and operational in the autumn of 2017.
On the other hand, SEGRO has announced the acquisition of a three-hectare plot of land situated in the same industrial zone of Can Roca, in Martorelles. The company will use this land for the development of another 20,000 square metres of logistics warehouses.
“To have succeeded in attracting an international client of the first order in the first development of SEGRO in Spain, is compensation for what has been our first logistics risk project in the Spanish market to be carried out in recent years in a zone where demand is high and supply very limited,” commented Haber David Alcázar, Director of SEGRO España. In his opinion, the purchase of the land will allow the firm to consolidate the project and create a critical mass in this strategic zone of Barcelona, making Martorelles a key item in Segro’s Spanish portfolio.
“Since Martorelles we have been most satisfied with Segro’s presence in our industrial zone, helping to put us back on the map as one of the main industrial zones in the urban conurbation of Barcelona,” said Marc Candela i Callado, Mayor of Martorelles.
The park is situated at the northern entrance to Barcelona, near the A7 motorway and 15km from the city centre. The project was designed and constructed as a first class logistics installation, with cargo capacity on both sides and great flexibility of usage. Additionally, the project was created following the highest standards of sustainability and efficiency, with the BREEAM certification “Very Good”.
