Roger Cooke, succeeds Eduardo Fernández-Cuesta, who had led the organisation’s board since 2014, Cooke is MBE FRICS and an advisor for Lar España. He has extensive experience in real estate, having spent part of his professional career working for such companies as Cushman & Wakefield and Ernst & Young.
Cooke is also President of Iberian Property’s Editorial Council and a member of the Fundación Hispano Británica’s management board, of the British Benevolent Fund’s advisory committee and of the Salón Inmobiliario de Madrid’s (SIMA) executive committee.
Rogar Cook commented in a release that «for me it is an honour to have been nominated RICS’ chairman for Spain, especially at a time when the real estate and construction sectors have so much relevance and responsibility socially, economically and politically. I hope I can continue the great work carried out by the members of the previous board, so as to assure the maximum recognition of RICS’ brand, by its members, by the sector and by the public administration. RICS brings confidence to the market through international standards, training, information and a leading certification within the sector which is recognised all over the world».
RICS’ new board in Spain
RICS announced at the same time that the organization will also have a new board in Spain, led by the new chairman. The board is composed by nine members, amongst which remain Ismael Fernández Antón MRICS, Partner, Head of Real Estate Spain at Ashurst; Stuart McDonald FRICS, ÁRIMA; Pilar Guzmán MRICS, UPV; Alejandro Campoy MRICS, Savills-Aguirre Newman; and Anna Gener MRICS, president and CEO at Savills Aguirre Newman Barcelona. On the other hand, Jon Blasby MRICS, director at Castiel; Laura Casillas Barragán MRICS, partner at Cushman & Wakefield; Mónica Sapena MRICS, partner at Tassl; and Fernando Fuente MRICS, Director Nacional Valuation & Advisory Services at CBRE, were incorporated as new members of the board.
