«We have just bought a building in Montmeló, 25 km from Barcelona’s city centre, which we will convert into a building prepared for urban logistics, that will be innovative, flexible and multi-purpose», stated Cristian Oller, national director at Prologis Iberia, in an interview to newspaper Expansión.
Daily newspaper Eje Prime further mentioned that this asset concerns clothing brand Pimkie’s 19.000 sqm logistic unit. On this purchase and future conversion (which includes a 2.600 sqm expansion) alone, the REIT will spend more than 12 million euro, reports the same newspaper.
This is one more transaction included in the company’s current investment strategy, which, in just 12 months, increased its Spanish portfolio is around 50%. And the way into the future will be to grow even further. Cristian Oller confirmed that the company has «resources to grow and we have no limits. We currently have a dimension we want to maintain and we will take advantage of the opportunities».
Along with this strategy, Prologis should also promote the non-strategic asset rotation in Spain and, on the other hand, invest on the development of 210.000 sqm in new units in Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha. For this year, the company’s goal is to start developing its projects in Guadalajara and San Fernando de Henares.
