Today «Porto faces an enormous challenge and it has serious chances of overcoming it», stated councilman for Economy, Tourism and Commerce at the Porto City Hall, Ricardo Valente, who spoke during the Almoço-Conferência (Conference Breakfast) Vida Imobiliária, at Infante de Sagres hotel, in Porto, in front of almost one hundred real estate professionals.
The challenge is essentially «to ensure a sustainable growth that attracts even more people to the city. More talent and more tourism. Adding it to the Portuguese economy’s good moment, the equation for maintaining real estate investment and keeping it profitable is complete».
An attractive environment for the big international players
The new air routes and the expected growth of the Port of Leixões encourage Leonardo Peres, M7 Real Estate Portugal’s managing director, who considers that «Porto has a lot of room to grow». It is, indeed, the existence of such an extensive industrial area that leads Leonardo Peres to pose the question: «why isn’t there speculative development within the Porto logistic market? »
For the M7 Real Estate Portugal’s managing director «the office occupancy in Porto is dominated by big companies ». In terms of logistic, Porto is characterized by «a fast growth with potential. E-commerce will be disruptive and reposition the city’s logistic market».
Leonardo Peres finished by advancing that «M7 intends to launch a 100 million euro fund to invest in Portugal soon » and confirmed that «we intend to keep investing in Porto». The company currently has a 6 asset portfolio in the city.
