This is intended as a forum for the joint debate and update of real estate agencies in Spain, a table for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, standardise criteria, set common objectives and help to improve the real estate sector.
Galiano notes that the real estate agency sector in Spain is segmented because of the deregulation of estate agents in 2000. “Authentic real estate professionals come to demand a coming together and an understanding between different groups to discuss questions of common interest and following this path we will be API associates”, he states.
This new working platform will be integrated by the Consejo General de Colegios API, in representation of their 46 provincial associations, and their 4,100 practising colleagues and national associations grouped with the agencies, as is the case of the Professional Association of Real estate Experts, which has 800 associates, and the Association ‘Habitale’, with 200 members.
The main objective of this forum is to lay the foundations and carry out the right actions in order to equip the legal security sector for consumers and users, as well as create order and maximum professionalism for real estate agents. This will generate confidence on the part of the citizens and will energise the market, according to its promoters.
Thus, Diego Galiano explained that the administration cannot “be unaware of the inherent risk in a property deal, and the potential legal and economic dangers which face citizens if any kind of broker or commission agent were to intervene, without order, with no control, and without skills. We need a strong sector with authentic real estate professionals, trained and responsible, offering the consumer security”.
