Office rentals in Lisbon slow down towards November

In November, JLL recorded on its books 11 operations totalling a take up of 6,221 m², showing a drop of 50% compared to October and 49% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Between January and November, 173 operations in the Lisbon office market were closed, with an average surface area per transaction of 677 m², above the value from the same period in 2015. In November the figure was 566 m², a monthly decrease of 41%.

On studying the total activity recorded in November, 67% of the rented area corresponds to liquid take up (the sum of the deals motivated by area – 47% - and of the arrival of new firms in the Lisbon region– 18%), whilst moving offices totalled 35%. Through the year, moving to a new building was the main motive with 56% of total take up, followed by office expansion (37%) and companies new to the Lisbon region (6%).
