The building, which until the middle of 2016, housed the head offices of the group Global Media, which includes, among others, the newspaper Diário de Notícias, was sold for about 20 million, in a deal assisted by the CBRE consultancy representing the seller.
A Portuguese-based society, Nickel Real Estate has among its investors a UK investment company, and in recent years has been one of the most active buyers of real estate in the area, including in its portfolio assets such as Liberdade 203 (on the corner with Rua Rosa Araújo), Liberdade 40, and the firm Orpheu XI, in the Chiado, according to Negócios.
With a total of eight floors and an area of 6.500 m², the Edifício Diário de Notícias is situated beside the Praça do Marquês de Pombal and will be converted into a luxury condominium of about 30 apartments, with prices varying between 8,000 and 10,000 €/m², and commercial use on the ground floor, according to the same source. There will also be a retail area on the ground floor.
