Owned by Global Student Acommodation, Nexo Residencias is headquartered in Madrid and it will be from the Spanish capital that the new openings expected for Portugal and France will be managed.
The plan is to enter Portugal next Summer and reach 2.000 beds under management in Lisbon and 2.000 in Porto until 2020, which will mean three to four residences in each city.
This strategic plan was designed as a result of the alliance between GSA and Harrisson Street, through which both companies created a joint-venture in Spain to invest up to 750 million euro. Concluded in April, the operation was made official with a 200 million investment from Harrisson into Nexo.
Nexo currently has four residences operating in the Community of Madrid, three of which in the Spanish capital and one in Alcalá de Henares. In September two other residences, which are currently being built, will open in Barcelona, with another residence expected to start its construction works in January 2020 in Valencia, on a recently acquired terrain.
Adding operating and developing residences, the company has 2.400 beds in its portfolio, an amount it intends to double until the end of the year. Seville, Pamplona and Bilbao, in Spain, are other markets where it is analysing opportunities.
The goal is to reach between 10.000 and 12.000 beds under management in 2021.
