Permits for new houses make up 69.4 % of the total permits for the housing sector (76,566), which includes new works, remodelling and expansion. Of this total, and in relation to the larger cities, Madrid heads the list, with 5,958 licenses granted, followed by Barcelona (3,359), Valencia (976) and Seville (453).
This increase in the first ten months of 2016 confirms the recovery which began in 2014, the financial year which broke seven consecutive negative years with a comeback of 1.7% (up to 34,873 units) and which consolidated in 2015, with a 42.5% increase in the number of permits granted.
