Several transactions were already closed with giants such as Four Seasons, Starwood, Riu, Hyatt or Marriot, among others, including 4413 new luxury hotel rooms in the region.
Spanish Real Estate reminds that Riu was the latest hotel chain to close a large transaction, namely the acquisition of Edificio España, located at Plaza España de Madrid, to Baraka. This future 4-star Riu Plaza hotel will occupy 24 of Edificio España’s 27 floors, with 650 rooms.
On the other hand, another flagship project achieved in the capital will be the prime hotel Four Seasons in Spain. The Canadian chain closed a deal with the group Villar Mir and the constructor OHL to open in its complex Canalejas a 5-star Hotel with 200 rooms, in the center of Madrid.
Marriott Starwood joined the investor Harry Mohinani to develop other three Hotels, in Spain, with a total investment of €100M. Two of wichi in Madrid: Hotel W Madrid, at Plaza de Canalejas, with 160 rooms, and Aloft with 139 rooms located at Gran Vía.
Yet to be completed is the project Live Resort in Madrid, from the American group Cordish. After a first refusal from the Comunidad de Madrid, the investor presented a second proposal, which is under review, with a project of a leisure and hotel resort, involving a total investment of €3,000M and will be the biggest luxury Hotel in the region, with at least 500 rooms, states the Spanish website.
Last March, Hyatt announced a new hotel with 159 rooms, to be opened in the last quarter of the year, at Gran Vía. The VP chain is also finishing the construction of the VP Plaza de España Design, a 5-star with 214 rooms and a total investment of €90M.
These new hotels will be added to the latest openings, such as Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques with 180 rooms.
