Initially, the event had been scheduled to take place between the 16th and 19th of March 2021, but «the participants’ feedback concerning the uncertainty in terms of travel restrictions and the measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic, encouraged us to gather the international real estate community a little later than we had initially anticipated», explained Filippo Rean, Director of Real Estate at Reed MIDEM and Ronan Vaspart, Director at MIPIM, in a note posted on the event’s page.
The Palais des Festivales, in Cannes, will remain as the organisation’s chosen venue, and it assured it is «trying its best to anticipate any developments and provide solutions to meet the participants’ needs». The professionals’ focus will be on organising an event which «will support business and the real estate sector in preparing for what is being called the new normal».
In March, the organisation had already announced the cancellation of the on-site event and presented a digital alternative, MIPIM Connect which promoted meetings between real estate professionals from several different countries. The Paris Real Estate Week which took place between the 14th and 17th of September also took place online. At the time, Filippo Rean announced that these initiatives were a starting point to «assist on the recovery of the real estate industry», being the precursors of MIPIM 2021.
