The alliance’s first project will be the landmark plan, Plaza Ruiz Picasso in Madrid, with a total SBA of 36.899 sqm. It will incorporate the latest state of the art technology, including Edge’s Edge Next platform to optimise the building’s performance and make it more intelligent and sustainable.
The platform uses sensors, not only to compile data, but also to provide practical information which will allow buildings, companies and people to prosper. Tenants can also use the building’s app, which will allow users to control the basic characteristics of their work environment, such as lighting or temperature, with great efficiency.
The asset is expected to obtain the LEED Platinum and Well Core & Shell Gold certificates and also the WiredScore and SmartScore certificates which certify the building’s connectivity.
Edge Next will also assist Merlin in incorporating sustainable and technological initiatives into its office portfolio, thus deploying a long-term project which will optimise its development through the use of intelligent technology. As part of this strategy, the tool will be tested in one of the Spanish real estate’s buildings throughout 2021 and it is expected to be implemented in other buildings in the near future.
