The Spanish REIT’s main goal is to improve its energy performance. Newspaper Expansión reveals this Monday that, with the new building management system (BMS) – which will be developed by Telefónica – Merlin will be able to, at an initial stage, centralize the all its assets’ energy management in one place and, in this way, manage with flexibility all the assets’ energy spending, by, for example, turning off the lights when necessary.
At a second stage, each asset’s BMS should connect to a central digital headquarters and be accessed remotely through the Internet.
For now, this project only covers office assets, such as the Torre Glories building in Barcelona. But the Spanish REIT plans to expand the initiative to its commercial spaces and logistic warehouses portfolio.
