In this scenario, GTrends which represents Gloval’s Research Department highlighted the opportunity offered by vacant commercial establishments for distributing parcels in less than one hour. This would, on the one hand, improve the efficiency in terms of costs and delivery times and, on the other hand, it would activate urban high street retail outside the prime areas. These establishments would be needed as last-mile assets – especially with the increase of e-commerce, online demands and home delivery service – and thus contribute to improving the delivery flow from the big logistic platforms located on the outskirts of the large urban areas.
For Gloval, this is an interesting opportunity for the two commercial real estate segments. Occupation of establishments which would otherwise be complicated to perform and the considerable cost reduction in terms of transportation and delivery times by the logistic operators.
Besides the parcels’ logistic coverage of the entire city, the model used by the Postal services could be implemented by the reverse logistics.
