According to Worx’s WMarket, foreign investors will keep playing a key role in 2020, after having represented 82% of all transactions in 2019. Last year, the trade volume reached 3.200 million euro, for a total 74 commercial real estate operations. The office segment alone registered 1.000 million euro in investment volume.
The consultant highlighted «commercial real estate investment which continues at record levels in Portugal. Safety and profitability, as well as the investors’ high liquidity, are the main justifications». He also considers that «the market’s foundations remain solid, demand remains active and the lack of available investments persists, which has caused great valuation for real estate assets».
Pedro Valente, from the Capital Markets department at Worx, points out that «Lisbon continues to be the great destination for a large part of all investment. However, demand has spread to other areas in the country, such as Porto and the Algarve. These areas have been showing growth potential and will be a bet for the future».
