The new man in charge is a MRICS and managing partner at AuraREE in Portugal. He has a vast experience in the assessment sector, having developed a large part of his professional career in companies such as Colliers, DTZ and Worx/Knight Frank. José Covas is also a managing partner at AuraREE in Spain, Italy and Greece and teaches MA’s in several learning institutions.
José Covas commented that «it is for me an honour to have been nominated as RICS’ president for Portugal, especially at a time when the real estate and the construction sectors have so much responsibility and relevance in terms of social, economic and political issues. I hope to continue the work carried out by my predecessors in the former board, so as to guarantee a maximum recognition for the RICS brand, both for its members and the sector and for the public administration. RICS provides confidence to the market through international standards, training, information and a leading qualification in the sector recognised all over the world».
New board in Portugal
New members of RICS’ board in Portugal, composed by 7 members, were also elected, amongst which António Gil Machado FRICS, Director at Iberian Property, who continues from the former Advisory Board. On the other hand, Bruno de Carvalho Matos MRICS, Manager at Engexpor, Joana Fonseca MRICS, Associate Director at CBRE Strategic Advisory; Ian McMahon MRICS, Director at Ian McMahon Building Consultancy; João Gallego Moura MRICS, Associate Partner | TAS - Real Estate, Hospitality, Construction & Infrastructure, EY, Guilherme Antunes Ferreira MRICS, Valuation Director at Whitestar Asset Solutions, Ricardo Sousa MRICS, CEO at Century 21 Spain and Portugal join the board as new members.
