This is the event’s 3rd edition, organized by EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association) together with Iberian Property where participants will get to know how the Portuguese REIT (SIGI) regime, which only started during last year’s second semester, took off and anticipate the impact the legal and tax changes expected for the more consolidated Spanish REITs (SOCIMIs) will have.
Dominique Moerenhout, EPRA’s CEO, who will be present at the conference, commented that «the Iberian market is one of the most dynamic in Europe and generates an enormous interest amongst investors and this annual meeting to analyse its prospects and opportunities has already become a reference for all those who consider investing here and committing in the long term to the sector’s development».
At the Iberian REIT Conference, specialists will also analyse the impact of the new global demands in terms of responsible investment within the REIT market. António Gil Machado, director at Iberian Property, points out that «this prospect of sustainability and environmental, social and governance responsibility (ESG) in business is increasingly becoming a demand for real estate investment. Concerning REITs, for whom the issues of transparency are paramount, ESG requirements are a fundamental driver and their rapport a growing demand».
The Iberian REIT Conference has already confirmed the presence, among others, of José Luis Jiménez Guajardo-Fajardo, Mapfre's Chief Investment Officer; Colonial’s CEO, Pere Viñolas, who integrates for the first time, the event’s specialists’ panel; Ismael Clemente, Merlin Properties’ CEO; Miguel Pereda, Grupo Lar’s director and CEO; Ignacio Martínez-Avial, Managing Director at BNP Paribas Real Estate in Spain; and Andrés González de Cominges, Corporate & Investment Banking General Manager for the Iberian market at Santander.
Paulo Núncio, Partner at Morais Leitão; Gilles Emond, in charge of Real Estate at AGEAS Portugal; and Manuel Puerta da Costa, member of the board at APFIPP, amongst other specialists, will also be present.
The 2019 edition gathered, in Madrid, more than 250 professionals in investment and asset management and players from the main Spanish REITs as well as from the Portuguese and Spanish real estate markets.
