Group IHG will open an hotel under its luxury brand InterContinental with a fourteen million euro investment. The company plans opening the hotel in September, expecting to take advantage of tourism’s return, according to La Vanguardia.
The hotel will be located in Montjuic, in a building currently occupied by Crowne Plaza, a four-star establishment which was also part of the group. The new asset will be a five-star hotel.
The building has been fully renewed so as to be adapted to the settings and aesthetics of the new brand and it will feature 273 rooms, a 1.200 sqm spa and areas for meetings and celebrations. The hotel will also have three different restaurants a cocktail bar and a terrace.
It will be the first hotel from brand InterContinental to open in Barcelona, and the second in Spain, since the group already has one other in Madrid. Worldwide, the group has 200 establishments of this type.
In Spain, IHG has 28 hotels, five of which belong to its Luxury&Lifestyle collection, of which brand InterContinental is a part of. The company is also planning new openings in Ibiza and Mallorca.
