According to data shown by Confidencial Imobiliário in the Índice de Preços Residenciais (Housing Prices Index), which follows transaction prices fluctuation within the national housing market, the increase was 1,3% when compared to August.
The numbers confirm that the housing market prices keep accelerating, with yoy increases above 10% since July 2017. This year alone, the increases were always above 13.5%, reaching a maximum of 16.4% in May and keeping at around 15% since.
Prices recovered since the last quarter of 2013, but for about two years, the yoy increases were below 3%. It was only in 2016 that this growth started to accelerate, with prices increasing 3.5% to 9% until the middle of last year and significantly increasing the rate of growth since then, always with double digits yoy variations.
Still according to Ci, this cycle of successive increases took prices 10.6% above pre-crisis levels (2007) and led them to recover 41,4% from their lowest levels (June 2013).
