The latest news is the Eurostars Museum, a unit located at Rua Cais de Santarém in Lisbon, the result of an investment of €23 million, which includes the acquisition and recovery of the property.
It is a five-star hotel with 91 rooms, which is also a museum, exposing a visitable collection of objects and remains found at the construction site, such as a Roman house or a funerary stela with Phoenician writing, since "we are talking of 8000 years of history," according to the head of the hotel's museum project, Pedro Mendes Leal. According to Luís Cruz, head of the company in Portugal, the hotel follows "our philosophy of what tourism should be today, something that has to do with the culture and the history of the cities where we are", states PressTur.
In the presentation of this unit, Luís Cruz explained that the area of Parque das Nações will receive two new hotels, opening in 2018. Another unit with 140 rooms will open on Avenida Duque de Loulé, and another in the Saldanha area, which will add to a building that the group acquired in Rua da Prata, a future hotel with 60 rooms.
Oporto is also on the radar, in this region the Spanish group will open a unit in the former Axa Building in Oporto, and another in Matosinhos, according to Business newspaper. The amount to be invested in the remaining units was not disclosed.
