Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton
The cities chosen to receive these three hotels are Cascais (within the Lisbon metropolitan area), Vila Nova de Gaia (Porto metropolitan area) and São Miguel (Azores).
Operated by the American group, these hotels will, however, be developed by the local partners which are also the assets’ owners, representing a global investment of around 60 million euro.
«With more than 24 million visitors last year, Portugal is perfectly positioned to attract the pending demand from consumers as international trips resume», justified Patrick Fitsgibbon, senior vice-president of Development for the EMEA region at Hilton.
The second Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand unit – after the Hilton Vilamoura – will be installed in Vila Nova de Gaia, at Rua Serpa Pinto, and should open in the Summer of 2021. The Hilton Porto Gaia is the product of a franchising agreement with Sabersal – Promoção Turística e Imobiliária – and it will offer 194 rooms, a 912 sqm spa with internal swimming pool, dynamic water jets, sauna, Turkish bath, four treatment rooms and a gym, besides a restaurant and bar with a scenic view over the Douro and Porto’s historic centre.
On the South, the group plans to open the Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton during the Summer of 2023. With 58 rooms, two restaurants, a lobby bar, swimming pool, spa and fitness centre, this unit is the result of a franchising agreement with Honest Talents, a company owned by real estate developer Reformosa. Located at Avenida 25 de Abril, within «Cascais’ historic centre», this will be the third Curio Collection hotel in our country, following the Boeira Garden Hotel Porto Gaia, opened in 2019, and The Emerald House Lisbon, which is expected to open next year. Capitalising its location, the company wants to reach both leisure and business travellers.
The group plans to make its debut in the Azores at the start of 2022, where it plans to open the DoubleTree by Hilton Lagoa Açores, the fruit of a management deal with Let’s Sea Azores, in the Island of São Miguel. Located at lot 26 of Avenida da Inovação, in vila da Lagoa, the hotel will feature 101 rooms, restaurant, outdoor swimming pool with bar, spa and fitness centre, besides a 210 sqm area to host events, including four meeting rooms. This will be the second unit under the DoubleTree brand to open in Portugal, after the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Lisboa – Fontana Park.
These hotels will reinforce the country’s portfolio under development, joining the Sé Catedral Hotel Porto – Tapestry Collection by Hilton, another recently announced project on the pipeline.
