Inauguration of the San Mamés student residence
The San Mamés student residence offers 351 beds, within single and double studios and common areas such as study rooms, leisure areas and gyms. This building is part of the Bilbao Intermodal Complex developed by Amenabar which also features a hotel, a shopping centre and parking for 526 vehicles.
On the increase in terms of student accommodation offered by this student residence, the city’s mayor Juan Mari Aburto commented that this «represents one more step towards a young universitarian Bilbao we bet on for the future». And he further considered that it is «an unequivocal sign that the virus will not stop us from being a lively city excited about its future».
Juan Manuel Acosta, Managing Director at Greystar in Spain, pointed out that «with these new residences, we ratify our bet on Bilbao: a growing city with a powerful educational hub which had been until now characterised by a deficit in terms of student accommodation. The San Mamés residence complements the residence we already had in Blas de Otero, and follows the same philosophy, oriented towards creating an atmosphere that encourages educational and personal growth for its residents».
The already mentioned Blas de Otero residence was Greystar’s first bet in Bilbao, it has 220 beds and has been active for 16 years. With this new opening, Greystar and its brand Resa, under which the company manages these types of assets, already have a total 37 student residences in Spain, offering 9.000 beds.
