Portugal attracted a total investment of 35.5 million euros in the month of August, through the granting of “golden visas”, a decrease of 38.7% compared to the same month in 2020. According to Lusa's accounts made as of according to SEF data, this investment represents an increase of 59.7% compared to July.
In the month in question, 64 Residence Permits for Investment were granted, 56 of which through the acquisition of real estate, 16 for urban rehabilitation, and 8 through capital transfers. The purchase of real estate represented an investment of 30.4 million euros, 5.9 million of which for urban rehabilitation. The transfer of capital amounted to more than 4.8 million euros.
19 visas were granted to China in August, 9 to the US, 5 to Russia, 3 to Canada and 3 to Brazil.
According to data cited by Público, between January and August, 550 "gold visas" were granted, 55 of which in January, 100 in February, 73 in March, 98 in April, 52 in May, 67 in June, 41 in July and 64 in August. The investment totaled 295.1 million euros, 40% less than in the same period in 2020.
