French tech company Papernest has concluded the lease of around 6.000 sqm within the renamed Knem building, in district 22@ of Poblenou in Barcelona. The operation was concluded during last year’s final quarter and was the top office operation in Barcelona in 2020.
Papernest, which is now located in different locations across Barcelona, will install in the renamed Knem building its Spanish corporate headquarters. It is a singular and very well-located building in barrio Poblenou, which is growing strong in the Spanish market, and which has now reached the heart of 22@, a business district with numerous international corporations, tech companies and start-ups.
The Knem building at 22@ is owned by G3T, Carmen Godia’s family office. It has 15.000 sqm and is expected to be delivered in the coming months, before the Summer. The building’s goal is to attract corporations seeking a singular space within 22@.
The building used to host the El Cànem factory which manufactured white jute. Architecture studio b720 Fermín Vázquez fully refurbished the building to replace the factory spaces with modern offices with tech and environmental innovations. Contracting in Barcelona during 2020 was set at around 170.000 sqm, a 60% yoy drop and a 50% drop when compared to the average of the last five years, according to data from Savills.
