Íñigo de la Serna, Minister of Development, said that the agreement could be officially announced on Thursday. "The discussions are very advanced, throughout the day there will be a call to make a presentation of the situation of the operation, which is as advanced as the act we will celebrate tomorrow to report the final result," has announced De la Serna.
Both the City Council and the company have confirmed to Europa Press that this Thursday (27th) will be presented the agreement reached between the three parties, on the basis that will define the final urban planning of the Madrid Puerta Norte project, whose goal is to promote the development of the northern zone of the city, stagnated for 25 years.
Municipal sources have advanced a positive valuation of the agreement to present, since it has been led from the City Council and was based on the project submitted by the municipal government. The same sources have pointed out that in this agreement the reform and modernization of Chamartín station represents one of the key axes of the project.
According to the draft on which all the parties involved (Ministry of Development, Community of Madrid, Madrid City Council and North Castellana District, company formed by BBVA and San José constructor) are working, the buildable area will be reduced in 36%, regarding the initial plan. The affected area would be of 2 million m2, compared to the 3.2 million initially proposed. The management of the plan would be in the hand of Madrid City Council, controlling times and proceedings.
