In the project, promoted by Grupo Villar Mir, OHL Desarrollos and Mohari Limited, will invest €525 million and will employ, directly and indirectly, more than 4,800 people, according to a presentation made today to the media, in which took part Francisco J. Meliá, CEO of Centro Canalejas Madrid and general director of OHL Desarrollos; Carlos Lamela, architect and director of Estudio Lamela (authors of the architectural project) and José Antonio Fernández Gallar, consultant of Centro Canalejas Madrid and general director of Inmobiliaria Espacio.
CCM is a mixed-use project that will occupy 50,000 m2 above ground. It includes a Four Seasons Hotel, with five-stars and 200 rooms, the first of the prestigious Canadian chain in Spain. Centro Canalejas Madrid will have an important commercial space: the Gallery of Canalejas, of 15,000 m2, and 22 homes Four Seasons Private Residences Madrid, the first "branded residences" that will occupy 7,000 m2 and offer the hotel services to the owners of the same. Also, and providing service to all areas, the complex has a parking with 400 places, with a surface of 14,000 m2. The common areas of the Four Seasons Hotel will add approximately 4,200 m2.
The project that is being carried out is undertaking major constructive and architectural challenges to adapt the buildings to new uses, respecting the patrimonial value of the same.
One of the biggest constructive challenges has been the need to conserve the seven facades and the first centerline of two of the buildings declared as Property of Cultural Interest (BIC) -Alcalá, 14 and Plaza de Canalejas, 1-, as established by the regulations of protection of the patrimony.
