This year, the division’s EBITDA increased 7.1%, as shown by the numbers presented last Friday and quoted by HiperSuper.
The company’s retail activities increased in 9 of the 12 countries where it operates, including in Portugal. In the South of Europe alone, sales increased 0.5% and the EBITDA increased 6%.
Last year, Auchan Retail’s revenues were set at 45.800 million euro, 1.4% less than in 2018. These results are justified by the revitalisation plan the group initiated last year, which included the sale of operations in Italy and Vietnam.
Edgard Bonte, Auchan Retail’s CEO, commented that «in 2019, we started seeing the first results of these measures. At the same time, our main locations are undergoing a rehabilitation process, and we commit to a deep long-term change to restore our offer’s exclusive resources, starting by the hypermarkets. This work will be carried out with the help of all our stakeholders», quoted the same source.
