The news was reported by the company’s director, Víctor Martí, to Spanish newspaper EjePrime, according to whom Atom intends to diversify its portfolio outside of Spain, where it will continue to consolidate its activity. It intends to buy new hotels in capitals and other European tourist cities, reinforcing its investment in urban areas. Currently, 64% of the company’s portfolio corresponds to tourism and leisure assets and only 36% of those are located in cities.
It is certain that in 2020 the REIT wants to become «the hotel segment’s most active group and keep 2019’s investment pace», said Víctor Martí.
Atom’s portfolio is currently estimated at more than 500 million euro, including 27 assets and 6.545 rooms. Amongst its main shareholders are Bankinter, with 7% and real estate investment society GMA, with 4% of its capital, besides 600 other shareholders from the private banking sector.
