Under the motto «Es Comercio» (It’s Commerce), the congress organized by the Asociación Española de Centros y Parques Comerciales (AECC) – Spanish Association of Shopping Centres and Business Parks – had innovation and investment as its main themes.
This was one of the subjects discussed by María Reyes Maroto, minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in Spain. At the La Ermita shopping centre the minister highlighted the importance of digital transformation and the implementation of sustainability in shopping centres, as well as its relevance to promote jobs: there are 720.000 jobs within this sector in Spain.
Other important figures were also present at the event. The Community of Madrid’s Councilman for Economy, Employment and Competitiveness, Manuel Giménez was one of them, as well as the Madrid Municipality’s Councilwoman for Tourism, Almudena Maíllo.
The conference also featured Eduardo Ceballos, president of AECC, who remarked the positive moment the shopping centres and business parks’ segment is going through. Data from this year’s first semester shows a positive trajectory in this segment in terms of sales and affluence.
