Bankinter Investment wants to surpass €8.000M in the alternative segments
25 November 2019 | Vanessa Sousa

Bankinter Investment’s renewed brand has a well defined goal for the next three years: to surpass 8.000 million euro invested in alternative assets. The bank has already invested more than 3.000 million euro in these segments.

Thus, Bankinter may take on «a leadership position within the Spanish alternative investment market», revealed Íñigo Guerra, the bank’s CEO and in charge of the brand, in an interview to newspaper Expansión.

After attracting around 1.800 million euro from 2.600 investors, Bankinter Investment should now focus on offering «differentiated» services and making investment opportunities accessible to family estates and institutions headquartered in Iberia. For Íñigo Guerra, «it makes no sense that the big alternative investment opportunities be carried out by foreign funds and don’t remain here».

Bankinter has invested heavily in these segments. Since 2017 it has already launched a total eight alternative investment vehicles to take hold of those «big opportunities».  One of those vehicles is REIT ORES, which focus its activity, in particular, on shopping centres. Another is Atom Hotels which focuses on the hotel segment. Within this set of eight vehicles there is also VStudent, a venture capital fund which bets on student residences.
